You would find it ridiculous if, when you asked someone his name, he replied, "My name is whatever you like to call it." You would find such an answer ridiculous. And if he were to add," I have whatever name you care to give me, and it is my real name," you would consider him mad. And yet that is what we must perhaps get accustomed to; indeterminacy become a positive fact, a positive element of knowledge.
