It is indeed possible to be happy forever. It’s just that most people don’t really want it. To be happy forever is very simple: Just accept everything as it is. Your body, finances, relationships, health, business… however it is, accept it without conditions. When you stop arguing with reality, the outside world loses its power over you. Whatever happens, happens. You’ve got no stake in it. But don’t stop there. Acceptance goes even deeper than this. Whatever your thoughts and feelings are about anything, accept those too. Whenever you feel scared, insecure, lost, confused, depressed, or angry - accept that, too. Stop arguing with yourself. This kind of radical acceptance is where deep, lasting happiness and peace are found. No one can take it away from you. It’s yours forever. Now, perhaps you are reading this thinking “that’s a nice philosophy, but how can anyone be happy if they are broke, abused, sick, or in pain?” In a way, this is exactly the point: Our minds are always organizing in opposition to reality. It’s not the conditions of our life that actually matter, but rather the expectations to which we compare them to. When you compare sickness to health, of course sickness seems worse. However, the judgement only arises from comparing what is to something else, to how something “should” be. But there are no shoulds in reality. There’s just what is - reality as it is. To align with reality is wisdom. To argue with reality is painful - it’s the source of all human suffering. Whether you treat reality as a friend or enemy ultimately defines your experience of life. The choice is yours.
