In "As You Like It", Shakespeare wrote: Sweet are the uses of adversity, Which like the toad, ugly and venomous, Wears yet a precious jewel in his head; And this our life, exempt from public haunt, Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, Sermons in stones, and good in every thing. Our culture does not train us to find the good in everything; indeed, it's just the opposite. Yet, those who have found sweetness in adversity enjoy a kind of peace and security that has no equal. How might we begin to train ourselves differently?
